MARATHON ON 24TH JULY 2024

As one of the subevents of the Silver Jubilee celebration, our esteemed college, 

Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College conducted a celebratory marathon involving five hundred and thirty-one students ranging from various departments, starting from the Popsco Ground near Rajiv Gandhi Statue to Gandhi Statue, rock beach, encompassing a distance of 4.2 kilometres.

The eventful marathon commenced at 4:30 p.m., and continued until approximately 6:45 p.m. Students eagerly waited for the start of the marathon, considering running in it would be a chance to take pride in being a student of this esteemed institution. Students ran from the starting landmark, Popsco Ground, to the bustling Raja Theatre, to Atithi Hotel, to the finish line, Gandhi Statue. 

Participants passed by multiple booths containing refreshments and motivation, helping the runners rejuvenate themselves. The first booth was located at the Balaji Theatre area. The second stopping was at Anandha Inn, and the final stall was placed at Gandhi Statue where the prize distribution was held, producing three final winners.

Such winners came from the following departments: Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) composing of 28 participants, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) consisting of 73 participants, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) composing of 55 students, Information Technology (IT) consisting of 62 students, Mechanical Engineering composing of 24 runners, Civil Engineering consisting of 13 participants, Instrumentation and Control Engineering (ICE) also consisting of 13 participants, Biomedical Engineering (BME) offering 11 runners, MCTR consisting of 10 members, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AIDS) composing of 25 students, Computer Communication Engineering (CCE) also producing 10 contestants, Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS) with 15 participants, Architecture Department (B.ARCH) with 19 students, Master of Business Administration (MBA) consisting of 15 runners, Agriculture Department with 38 participants, Arts and Science Department with 72 students, Physiotherapy Department composing of 27 students, and at last Allied Health Sciences consisting of 31 participants, summing up to five hundred and thirty one contestants in total.

After the well spent efforts of the vast group of participants, the winners were selected; the first prize was awarded to Mugesh M of IInd Year, majoring in ECE, the second prize given to Velan P of IIIrd Year, majoring in BA English, and the third prize presented to Saint Predesh of IIIrd Year, majoring in BBA in Financial Technology.

Finally, with speeches of gratitude thanking the participants and various heads who had made this event possible, with an enthusiastic flash-mob dance performance, the event came to a close.
